The engine was rebuilt in 2013 from an old VW bug (1960s) engine 1.6L like many others along with most of the other parts. The clutch has been replaced and the inner Bowden tube welded to stop the common problem of a dead clutch with Speedsters. The steering wheel has been reinforced and realigned. The breaks and break fluids replaced last year. The carburetors were cleaned and rebuilt last year and the engine is running smoothly and reliably.
