This 1966 Shelby Cobra replica has all the best pieces
A fully independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, side pipes, and a dual-quad Cobra Jet big block under the hood. And all this power is wrapped in one of the most distinctive paint themes around. So this is a speed machine designed to get noticed.
The maroon paint is something distinctly different for these Cobras. It’s the kind of color that strays from the usual red, black, and silver. It gives the car a sense of sophistication, especially when paired with the gold finish of the Halibrand-style wheels. But there’s also a terrific metallic element to make sure that this more refined color also has the kind of boldness we expect from a street and track star like a Cobra. In fact, this one really has all the best performance style and substance elements you want, like the hood scoop, big flared fenders, side pipes, push bumpers, knock-off wheel hubs, and the single racing roll hoop. And these always look great with racing stripes, especially in silver. So the total package is a Cobra that looks absolutely distinctive, and at the same time, is the kind setup that you will never be afraid to take out on the track.
The interior is a well-done package built for speed. You have classic racing bucket seats with RCI racing harnesses. There’s a Moto Lita wooden steering wheel with Cobra emblem, and the gear stick is done to match. There are a ton of terrific details, like AC pedals, toggle switches, side wind wings, fully finished door panels, and classic Stewart Warner gauges. There’s even a full snap-on racing tonneau.
Under the hood is a hardy and powerful heart. This is a 428 Cobra Jet V8. It’s dressed properly with Cobra valve covers and the air toper. And you need that big air grabber because this is topped with dual Holley four-barrel carburetors. This deeply inhaling big block exhales with added power and thunder as headers feed those growling side pipes. And this full package is built with the right supporting pieces, like an MSD ignition, HEI distributor, and dual electric fans. You’re in complete control of this motor’s fury and thunder thanks to the toploader four-speed manual transmission.
