This is a Bauer LTD Catfish, a kit car that comes out of San Marcos CA.  The suspension, transmission, limited slip rear end, & brakes come from a 1997 mazda miata M.  The engine comes from a Japanese eunos roadster (name of a miata over there).  The supercharger is from magnison with a recent rebuild & custom intercooler setup.  The drive train pushes 250bhp to the rear wheels with the full construction weighing in at only 1500lbs, in other words it is quick.  The Catfish is currently registered as a miata but I am in the process of getting kit car registration, just waiting for a sunny day to schedule the basic inspection.  With the Catfish’s lack of roof, it is not a foul weather car.  The frame of the car is all tubes, very much like an ariel atom under the fiberglass panels.  Due to the Catfish not having doors, it has a very rigid construction, this combined with a adjustable coilovers make this a monster in the corners.  Perfect for autocross & nice sunny drives.  A rear eye catcher, this car will get you attention everywhere, constantly replying to “So what is it?”.  So if you want to set down some killer lap times as well as feel like speed racer on sunny days, this is the car for you, & with only 24 kits sold at last count, you will really have to try to find another.
