The Worlds only C3 Corvette based Speed Racer Mach 5. This Design was Originally Created By James Benken. The Entire car was hand sculpted from scratch on his personal C3 Corvette,  Molds were Then lifted to recreate the car in kit form. Panels are bonded onto a stock 1980 corvette with little modification by bonding the panels directly to the original car.  The best part about this  is, there are no structural modification to the original corvette!! After the conversion The Speed Racer Mach 5 meets or exceed the Factory safety standards of the donor Corvette. The Mach 5 replica is car number three of the only three that were ever made. Car number one was a prototype, hand sculpted by the seller on a Corvette over a period of two years with consent of Tatsunuku legal department.” Tatsunoko Production owns the rights to Speed Racer. hand laid fiberglass using a mold taken from the prototype car and applied “over the existing C3 Corvette body. There were no structural alterations to the original corvette to compromise any of the factory safety standards unlike other cars of its kind. Remember, though, that there were no factory Corvette convertibles made between 1976 and 1982, so the 1980 Corvette on which this open Mach 5 replica is based was a coupe, as noted in the ad’s “Vehicle Specifics”.
