Having built Speedsters as a hobby for decades and compiling a best of the best ” Wish List ” of components and built what is a one of a kind Outlaw Speedster. The Build Component List is comprised of must have top brands.
Berrien 10 gauge square tube chassis is custom mated to the Mendeola tubular A – arm front suspension with rack & pinion steering w/ custom fabricated double universal steering shaft. Fox coil over shocks QA-1 springs and 1” sway bar. The rear suspension, also by Mendeola with rear narrowed tubular trailing arms. Fox coil over shocks and Q-A1 springs, Rear Kafer bars and rear 1” sway bar. NEAL dual piston aluminum caliper disc brakes and dual circuit large bore master cylinder. Custom fabricated 11 gauge – 2” dropped floor pans . Removable tunnel section with access to the lines, cable tubes. The OEM rear VW Type 1 frame horns are retained as part of the rear suspension inclusive of the 1968 Volkswagen. Mobelwagen polished wide five – 5-1/2 x 15 x 205 mm aluminum wheels w/ 185 65 15 Kuhmo tires. The chassis is finished in red with black floors.
Auto Linea aluminum Type 1 engine case w/ full flow. Dual 40hpmx carburetors w/ hex bar linkage New main rod and cam bearings, 8 dowel flywheel, heavy duty gland nut. CB Performance Comp Eliminator heads Chrome Moly push rods Forged crankshaft Rebuilt rods Mild 110 street camshaft. The Type 1 IRS transmission was newly custom built for this particular application w/ Weddle components and coupled to Chrome Moly race constant velocity axles w/ hardened bolts. 1,700 lb. Kennedy clutch set.
The classic speedster fiberglass body is manufactured by CFM. It is very thick and has additional bonded factory steel bracing. The Ferrari Grigio Silverstone Gray Metallic finish is enhanced by the speedster body lines. The rear quarter fenders were widened 1” on either side. The functional quarter panel intake grills feed cool forced air to the dual carbs. The black cloth top, side curtains & quarter boot cover are stored under the fiberglass tonneau. The fiberglass helmet fairing & tonneau can easily be removed with four button head chrome screws in minutes. Outlaw deck lid hinges & Spyder mirrors. The stainless steel door threshold trim is from the Sierra Madre Collection.Electrical :Vintage Motorcars wiring harness. All lights are 356 reproduction and stainless steel H-3 driving lights
Baseball glove soft leather adjustable forward and aft seats and door panels & black custom carpeting. 356 Reproduction gauge set w/ GPS speedometer from Beck. Vintage Speed 10-1/2” shifter. The dash brow is painted to match the body. Derrington style riveted 14” wood – chrome steering wheel and polished aluminum billet boss.
